I rarely use m.jaiku. I always end up on the S60 client. And
you're so right about it's potential. I really wish Nokia would
have purchased them and integrated Jaiku into S60. It would have
been the killer presence app integrated into the contact list. Plus
all the other cool things they could have done.
Yep. Plus, that aside, there's three features that I've
seen/had/played with which have never made it into a public
release.. I mean, I know the active user numbers are dwindling
(they must be) but still...
Wifi used as a data channel, (I had this on the closed beta)
Flickr feed images showing up in the client, (again, in the
closed beta)
Immediate push of image upload when taking a new photo. Like
online share, but within Jaiku. @Jyri had this feature on his client
when I met him last year, (very nice it was too).
Uploading most recent tracks to your feed/stream directly from
your MP3 player, not nessarily Last.fm.
All of that stuff is there right now, probably not finished - by
any stretch, but it could be switched on y'know...
shrug - obviously I don't know the whys or wherefores
etc...
Currently using the client now. Using it for summary in the
morning, easier than paging one after the other on m.jaiku. But
m.jaiku is my preferred choice.
Those features would make the Jaiku client a killer app and a
half for me @whatleydude; me thinks we need
to help Jaiku/Google finish and release it sooner by being
nice test persons for it :D

Don't you use it every day???

Nah man. For sheer speed of use, if I'm mobile, it has to be m.jaiku all the way.

I really like the S60 Jaiku client and wish it was still evolving.

What are the 3 features?

I think one of the three features involves wifi as a data channel.

@arjw - I was one of those testing persons! But then they stopped developing for it...
:(

Maybe they stopped, because it would be helping s60 and not android... I myself only use the app, the m. Drives me crazy

They seem to have killed the beta and are just moving things to the G App Engine ... we should hopefully see some new noise after that completes

I can't wait.... and I'm thinking of sacrificing a phone for android...
